Lauren Dado, co-owner of UkayManila.com and Social Sciences graduate of the Ateneo, gives a damn straight statement in her “style and beauty blog”: I am bourgeois.
Ai: What are the top five interesting places you’ve been to and what makes them a happy place to visit? (ai put a link on each place for you to see Lauren’s blog about it)
Answering this question made me realize that it’s a lot easier to think of places that you want to go to than the best places you’ve been. Maybe it’s because I haven’t traveled enough?
Anyway, here are my top five picksSan Francisco, USA -
I’ve been in love with San Francisco since I first visited when I was 11 and have since been back four times. It’s a very beautiful, very romantic city with lots of interesting stores (the bookstores especially), museums, and people. Thinking of San Francisco makes me feel warm and fuzzy, like remembering a happy childhood memory. There’s just no place like it in the world.
I like visiting Singapore because it’s how I imagine the Philippines would be like if we could just get our shit together.
Bangkok -
People have no excuse not to visit Bangkok. It’s near, it’s cheap to fly there, and it’s teeming with all sorts of delicious food and amazing shopping.
Because the food is delicious and extremely cheap, like 1/4 of what we pay at Manila restaurants. And there’s great snorkeling to be had at nearby Apo Island.
I think I love traveling to cities because most rural towns aren’t picturesque enough to spend a lot of time in. Not Pagudpod though. I was completely taken aback by the natural beauty of the place. Lush green mountains and white sand beaches in one area – who would have thought that was possible? Plus it feels amazing to be literally standing at the end of the Philippines.
Ai: A lot of young people would want to trade places with you, I’m sure. Especially those slaving in the corporate world. Sit on their asses on weekdays just to spend their weekends… sleeping. While you. You’re busy experimenting with what a twentysomething can do. You’ve enrolled in a fashion class, operate an online store, manage three blogs, had a serious interest in zombie movies?
