XI. RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

        1. Bike specifications:

           

          a. Tire width 1.95 inches and above

          b. No fixed-gear bikes.

          c. No electronic bikes

          d. During MTB races, no traditional road handlebars may be used. Clip-on extensions is prohibited. No triathlon handlebar extensions.

           

        2. 80% Rule will be in effect. Riders whose time is 80% slower than that of the race leader’s first lap are pulled out of the race. He/she is required to leave the race at the end of his/her lap in the zone provided (80% zone), except when the rider is on his/her final lap. Their time will still be recorded and ranked.
        3. Lapped riders will leave the event via an exit before finishing straight or in the 80% zone.
        4. Riders must be at the call-up box/area 20 minutes before their race schedule for the final check-in. When their number is called, riders who are not in the call-up box will be declared DNS (Did Not Start).
        5. Riders who abandon the race will be declared DNF (Did Not Finish).
        6. Only official feeders will be allowed at the feed zone. Please collect your feed zone ID during the team manager’s meeting.
        7. Feeders/Mechanics are not allowed to spray water on their riders or bicycles, but the rider can spray the water on his/herself.
        8. Technical assistance can only be given in the official tech/feed zone.
        9. Authorized technical assistance during a race consists of repairs to or replacement of any part of the bicycle other than the frame. Bike changes are not permitted, and the rider must cross the finish line with the same handlebar number plate he had at the start.
        10. The feeder or the mechanic must hand pass water bottles and food to the rider. The feeder or mechanic cannot run alongside his/her rider.
        11. No Rider may turn back on the course to reach a feed/technical zone. Any rider doing so will be disqualified (DSQ). Only within the Feed/Technical Zone itself a rider may turn back without obstructing other competitors.
        12. Riders may carry tools and spare parts provided that these do not involve any danger to the rider himself or the other competitors.


XII. CONDUCT OF RIDERS

        1. A rider must act in a sporting manner at all times and permit any faster rider to overtake without obstructing.
        2. If a rider exits the course for any reason, he/she must return to the course at the exact same point from which he/she exited.
        3. The riders must respect nature and ensure they do not pollute the course venue.
        4. Anyone who is found to have altered the course will have his/her accreditation removed or, in the case of the rider, disqualified (DSQ).
        5. Please wear a bike jersey during the race and awarding ceremony. No tri-suits, t-shirts, or singlets.
        6. Please wear bike shoes during the race and the awarding ceremony.
        7. Please do not wear/use GoPro/Action Camera/cell phones/headsets during the race event.
        8. Wearing a bike helmet is mandatory. No helmet, no ride.
        9. All race kits for the XCO race must be claimed on Claiming Day. No Claiming on Race Day.
